We had our first big snow fall here in Ohio yesterday and even though it really wasnโ€™t that much, Iโ€™m acting like itโ€™s a full blown blizzard. I prepped with blankets, movies, and cranked up the heat. Iโ€™ve been known to (slightly) overreact to the first snow of the season. We will all get used to this weather soon, but in the meantime, I needed a way to cope. No matter what age, one of the most comforting ways to fight the cold is with a mug of sweet and creamy hot chocolate.

I have three delicious Adult Hot Chocolate recipes to warm you up after you shovel the driveway, go sledding, or build a snow fort. Letโ€™s face it, playing in the snow has no age limit. Even if you live somewhere that doesnโ€™t have cold weather, one of these festive treats are a great way to get yourself in the mood for celebrating the season. And we all know that a sweet, boozy cocktail helps you wrap presentsโ€ฆitโ€™s a fact!

Letโ€™s start at the beginning with Jamieโ€™s fantastic recipe for Hot Cocoa Mix.

Here in Miami, I recently had the pleasure of eating at a โ€œSpanishโ€ (from Spain) restaurant.
Iโ€™ve never traveled there and I wasnโ€™t very hungry so I ordered their โ€˜Hot Chocolate with Churrosโ€™. Churros are a fried dough, these were round. What amazed me was the thickness of the hot chocolate! It was like a โ€˜pot de creme aux chocolatโ€™. Thick and not very sweet, it was absolutely decadent, warming, and extremely satisfying. For Christmas I had baked some โ€˜Mississippi Mud Browniesโ€™ and I had some leftover Duncan Hines frosting and spoonable Marshmallow. It had gotten a little nippy (you know, 60 degrees). I diluted some on the frosting with some Half & Half, microwaved it it 1 minute increments and stirring each time. After 3 minutes it was topped with a dollop of marshmallow cream. I came pretty close to replicating what the restaurant served me. When I looked up the recipe for hot chocolate in Google espaรฑol, it seems they thicken it with some type of flour or corn starch, thatโ€™s why the consistency was so thick. I had noticed that in the store section of the restaurant they did offer two different brands of hot chocolate mix โ€” but, honestly, being gluten intolerant, my version works better for me. You can control how chocolatey you want your cup of hot chocolate to be, but letโ€™s face it, if your going to indulge, indulge like you mean it.
